Having been interested in photography for such a long time, it was great news when my daughter also took an interest, quite independently from me, I should add. Having put a camera down on her Christmas and Birthday lists for a while, my wife and I felt it was time to 'actually' buy her one. I should point out that when she said camera, what she really meant was a 'proper' one!. We'd been through various point and shoot camera's and now she wanted a DSLR.
Having bought Alex a camera, my first thought, was 'hey, when she gets bored of it, it's mine!', however, it didn't work out that way, and she is as much interested, probably more, than she has always been. So, roll on 2 years, I bought my own! We'd bought Alex a Canon, so made sense for me to go down that route also, the sharing of lens meant that we could build up a nice collection hopefully. Therefore, the nice new shiny Canon EOS 760d arrived with an 18-135mm lens, which I thought was a nice alternative to the standard 18-55mm kit lens you generally get, of which Alex already had with hers.
So, this is the start of my journey of photography, I'm hoping to try to keep a general 'log' shall we say, of how I've got on, what mistake I made (as I'm sure there will be many!), what I read, what was useful, what wasn't, I'm sure you get the gist. So, as its 3 days before Christmas as I write this, Happy Christmas to you all, and a great new year, and roll on to photography experiences many.
